10 CHARMING VILLAGES IN CANTABRIA LESS THAN AN HOUR FROM THE HOTEL
SANTILLANA DEL MAR
(5 minutes from the hotel)
The town where we are located is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and charming towns in Cantabria. Just 5 minutes by car you can visit its spectacular historic centre (one of the best preserved in all of Spain), considered a historical-artistic site.
In addition, within Santillana, 8 minutes from the hotel, are the Altamira Caves, considered the “Sistine Chapel of cave art”.

COMILLAS
(25 minutes from the hotel)
Another classic in our area is Comillas, where its monuments and beautiful beaches stand out in equal measure. This way you can mix nature and art, enjoying the Cantabrian Sea and the two monuments par excellence,
the Pontifical University and El Capricho de Gaudí, one of the few monuments that this great artist made outside of Catalonia.
SAN VICENTE DE LA BARQUERA
(27 minutes from the hotel)
This wonderful fishing village, one of the last before crossing into neighbouring Asturias, is, in its own right, one of the most charming towns in Cantabria and the whole of northern Spain.
The spectacular natural surroundings, along with its beaches, its port and its extensive gastronomic offering, make San Vicente one of those places that never leave you indifferent.

SANTANDER
(30 minutes from the hotel)
The capital and therefore one of the places to visit in Cantabria that you cannot miss. Santander is a reference point in the north and there are many things to do and visit within the city.
The Sardinero Beach, the Magdalena Palace, the Botín Centre or Puerto Chico and the Paseo de Pereda are some of its most notable attractions.
CABÁRCENO
(30 minutes from the hotel)
Special mention should be made of one of the most famous places to visit in Cantabria, the Cabárceno Nature Park. A place where, along 20 km, you can see different animals in semi-freedom in the most natural environment possible for the species that live there. You can walk, drive or take the cable car.
A real experience!

SANTOÑA, LAREDO AND CASTRO URDIALES
(One hour from the hotel)
These three towns, located very close to each other on the eastern coast of Cantabria, are another of the wonders of the community. Laredo and Castro Urdiales are two of the “four fishing villages” along with San Vicente and Santander.
Santoña, with a great seafaring tradition, is well known for its exquisite anchovies. Stroll through its fishing ports, enjoy its beaches and don’t forget to sample the excellent cuisine of these three charming towns in Cantabria.
PICOS DE EUROPA
(One hour from the hotel)
Through the Desfiladero de la Hermida you can access the Cantabrian part of the Picos de Europa. Here you will find mountain villages and exceptional landscapes.
Its most popular areas are the Liébana Valley with Potes as its capital and the Camaleño Valley, where the Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana and the Fuente Dé Cable Car are located.

VEGA DEL PAS AND VALLES PASIEGOS
(50 minutes from the hotel)
These valleys in the interior of Cantabria, surrounded by green landscapes and rivers, are one of the ideal places to visit in Cantabria if you want to spend a day surrounded by nature. Its traditional architecture stands out in places such as its most outstanding town, Vega de Pas.
On the way, you can also visit the Puente Viesgo Caves, which house cave paintings thousands of years old.
BÁRCENA MAYOR AND CUEVAS DEL SOPLAO
(One hour from the hotel)
These two places are not next to each other, but they are usually a very good option for a 1-day excursion to the interior of Cantabria. On the one hand, we have Bárcena Mayor, considered one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in Spain” due to its good state of conservation and for being located in the heart of the Saja-Besaya Nature Reserve.
And, on the other hand, there are the Cuevas del Soplao, one of the great wonders of geology due to its spectacular eccentric formations.
